Ashby de la Zouch Castle

A late medieval castle now in ruins.

A great family day out, Ashby de la Zouch Castle began as a Manor house in the 12th century before reaching Castle status in the 15th century. Visitors can climb the massive tower and take in the great views. There is also an underground tunnel from the tower to the kitchen which can still be explored! Throughout the year there are many events including dualling Medival Knights where swords are wielded and helmets battered, so be sure to check out the website.  This is an exciting, educational day out for the whole family.
