Kids Days Out In Orkney
Orkney is a small place with an outsized amount of history, and children tend to take to it because so much of it is physical: chambered tombs you crawl into, wrecks you can see from the shore.
We list 4 attractions across the islands. The Scapa Flow Visitor Centre and Museum at Lyness tells the naval story properly, and the Orkney Wireless Museum is a short, cheap and surprisingly engaging stop.
Ferries run from Scrabster and Gills Bay, and flights from Inverness and Aberdeen. Two full days is the minimum that makes the journey worth it.
