Centre for Computing History, Cambridge

The Video Games and Computers that Changed our Lives ...

The Centre for Computing History is a hands-on display of computers and video game consoles dating back to the early sixties.

It is a unique museum where the parents can become the curators! Tell the kids how things used to be when YOU were a child and show them the computers YOU used to use!

Play on some of the greatest video games ever created from Pong to Pokemon and experience game play evolving. The display includes some of the huge computers of the sixties, the home computers of the 80’s and the hand held modern devices of today. With over 200 machines on display you will find a myriad of interesting stories. A large number of the machines are on and working and you’re encouraged to use them and get a feel for how they worked.

There are guides and information panels that help you understand the basics of
programming and you can even have a go for yourself!
We have a classroom of BBC Microcomputers and the new Raspberry Pi computers so you can get hands-on and see how technology has advanced.

It is hands-on, educational, interactive and above all … enormous fun!
