Kids Days Out In Dorchester

Dorchester is a compact county town and a practical base for west Dorset. The Dorset Museum covers the county's archaeology and its Thomas Hardy collection, and Maiden Castle just outside town is an enormous Iron Age hillfort with ramparts children can run along for free. Dorchester Sports Centre covers swimming and a wet afternoon, the skate park suits older ones, and the Odeon is central. Weymouth and the Jurassic Coast are both around fifteen minutes away, which makes longer beach days easy to build in.
