Kids Days Out In Northumberland
Northumberland is castle country and empty beaches, and the two often combine into the same day. Bamburgh is the obvious one: the castle sits above a beach you can walk for an hour without meeting anybody, even in August.
We list 18 attractions across the county, 3 of them free, though the beaches and the Cheviot walks are free and are half of why people come.
Chesters Roman Fort on the Wall works better with older children than younger. Bamburgh works with everyone, and it has parking at the beach end rather than only at the castle.
