Kids Days Out In Berwick

Berwick upon Tweed is the northernmost town in England and its Elizabethan walls are the reason to visit with children. The complete circuit is walkable in under an hour, raised above the rooftops with views out to sea and back over the three bridges across the Tweed. Berwick Barracks, among the earliest purpose built barracks in Britain, sits inside the walls. Spittal beach across the river is sandy and quiet, and Holy Island with its causeway and castle is twenty minutes south, though you must check the crossing times before setting off.
