Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children's Books

Exciting events for kids!

Seven Stories is a registered charity and Arts Council accredited museum. We are named after our iconic Victorian mill building's seven floors - and because it is said that there are just seven story plots from which all tales are told – Overcoming the Monster, Voyage and Return, Rags to Riches, Comedy, Tragedy, Rebirth, Quest. We have a valuable, growing Collection featuring some of the most influential works and artists of the last 100 years of children's literature, including Enid Blyton, Philip Pullman, Nick Sharratt and Judith Kerr.

We provide the only exhibition space in the UK wholly dedicated to the work of children's writers and illustrators. Bringing books to life through a creative programme of innovative exhibitions and exciting events, we invite visitors to discover the 'stories behind the stories' we know and love, and to feel excited and inspired to tell their own stories, in their own ways.

Visit us for free in Newcastle upon Tyne and see original artworks, draft manuscripts, correspondence from bestselling authors and meet our knowledgeable and enthusaistic team. We have events, workshops and storytimes every week - plan your visit to make the most of your time. Our children and young adult's bookshop and coffee shop are open 10am - 5pm every day except Wednesdays in term time (open seven days a week in school holidays). You can also hire us for your school, team, group or even a memorable birthday party.

The Seven Stories team provides extensive schools and community programming both face-to-face and online.
