The MAD (Mechanical Art & Design) Museum, Stratford upon Avon

Experience the imagination of marvellous minds

The Mechanical Art and Design Museum in Stratford Upon Avon, or 'MAD' Museum for short first unbolted its doors in 2012 when an eccentric entrepreneur decided to set up the museum before retirement. There are around 60 pieces of mechanical art on display, specifically called Kinetic Art and Automata. Think Heath Robinson mixed with Wallace and Gromit and Scrapheap Challenge! Nearly all of these exhibits are interactive which means the visitor has to get everything moving. As well as being highly interactive and a lot of fun, The MAD Museum appeals to those with curious and methodical brains too. This is where art meets movement (sometimes operating to achieve a function but most of the time, just moving for the fun of it!
