About Stratford-upon-Avon - Stratford-upon-Avon is the birthplace of William Shakespeare and is steeped in culture and history. Set in the beautiful rural Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the river Avon, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the UK. Shopping - With the wide and diverse range of shops shopping in Stratford and the surrounding towns and villages is a pure delight. With a choice ranging from gift shops to cheesemongers, jewellers to antique shops, boutiques to bookshops, you won’t go home empty handed! There is a weekly market on Fridays, as well as a regular farmers’ market, a craft market in the summer and a Christmas market.
