Kids Days Out In Keswick

Keswick sits at the northern end of Derwentwater and is one of the most family friendly bases in the Lake District. Launches run round the lake from the boat landings, and you can hop off at Hawes End or Lodore and walk part of the shore back. The Derwent Pencil Museum is an oddly compelling wet weather option, complete with the world's longest colouring pencil. Whinlatter Forest above the town has gentle trails, a Go Ape and red squirrels, and Castlerigg Stone Circle just outside Keswick is free and open all year with mountains on every side.
