Kids Days Out In Barnstaple
Barnstaple sits at the head of the Taw estuary and works well as a base for north Devon. Exmoor Zoological Park is a short drive inland and is small enough to manage comfortably with young children. Arlington Court, a National Trust house just north of the town, has carriages, gardens and woodland walks. Calvert Lakes on the edge of Exmoor runs watersports and outdoor activities for a more active day. The Tarka Trail starts here and gives miles of flat, traffic free cycling towards Instow and Bideford.
